473637 2006-07-26 05:24:00 There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.

473638 2006-07-26 05:40:00 Yeah... And seems the same dude's been moonlighting writing error messages for the *nix as well recently.

Some of the errors i've seen this year would be much better replaced with something more meaningful like "Guess what.. Hahah.. It don't go!".

I guess thats the price to be paid as everything becomes more standard

473639 2006-07-26 07:23:00 So he might have written:

"Please insert the Windows XP Home SP1a CD-ROM into the floppy A: drive and press ENTER"

??

473640 2006-07-27 00:31:00 So he might have written:

"Please insert the Windows XP Home SP1a CD-ROM into the floppy A: drive and press ENTER"

??That would rank along with "keyboard not found, please press enter."

473641 2006-07-27 00:43:00 Lol, are those two error messages for real? Or did you just make them up as a joke? mejobloggs (264)
473642 2006-07-27 01:22:00 You might find this place (atom.smasher.org) useful.

473643 2006-07-27 05:29:00 I have had both errors multiple times.

The first occurs when you slipstream SP2 wrong, the second when there's a keyboard error in many BIOSes.

473645 2006-07-27 06:12:00 Lol, are those two error messages for real? Or did you just make them up as a joke?
personthingy wasn't joking, that error message is real for sure. If your keyboard isn't plugged in when booting up you get "Keyboard not found, press F1 to continue" or "Keyboard not found, press any key to continue".

473646 2006-07-27 06:32:00 So you plug your keyboard in and press F1. That always used to work. USB or wireless keyboards might not work reliably like that. Graham L (2)
