473266 2006-07-25 02:41:00 Not long ago I was having a serious discussion with a manager from Telstra Clear and not far from telling them to shove their service where it hurt. Since then they doubled my monthly bandwidth allowance for nothing and now they're doubling the download speed to 4 Mbps. I'm starting to like these guys.

Looking at the tragic Xtraordinaries, I don't think there is realistically is anywhere else to go now. So credit where credit is due - Telstra Clear you're doing alright.

473267 2006-07-25 03:18:00 I'm with Xtra and it seems they always cut my speed and reset it at odd times during the month .

You are so right about the xtraordinaries . That really is a good way to alienate your customers .

well just got home and in my inbow was a email from telstraclear saying that everyone on 10 and 20 gig plans will have there speed doubled for nothing. This will done over the next month.
Telstra have a way of making you feel special by offering what you think is a special deal only to find out they are just changing there plans for everyone.
been caught out myself with similar Telstra deals, but am still grateful ;)

473269 2006-07-25 06:10:00 That's it, I'm switching. Now.

With TCL you actually get the speed you pay for - all the time (providing the server allows it).

10Mbit plan, here I come...

Trust me even before this upgrade TC cable was still a CRAP load better than DSL. I have been on Ihug/Xtra. and Inet DSL which is all the Telecom network anyway of course

I am now on the 10MB Telstra cable plan so I don't get a speed increase :( , but god dam its not like I need it lol.

Don't forget much lower pings and 2Mb up speed (128K up on DSL snigger)

I love my 10Mb 40 gig connection, it is a little more expensive at around $89 for the broadband side of it, but worth EVERY penny and then some. I can dowload in peak times in the evening at over 1000KB/s (thats Bytes not bits), ie 4 gig per hour if you wanted.

Yeah, I've been wanting to change for ages, this is just the wonderful bit of TCL attitude (random speed doubling) that's pushed me into going for it. I'm very impressed with the 10mb plans as I have a friend with it. It's good to see downloads actually going in the MB/sec :D

473272 2006-07-25 08:39:00 How nice for you all.
Now if Telstra would spend some money and provide the rest of us in the country with a choice...... :(

I'm guessing it's either not profitable, or just too much cash to spend. They tried in Auckland iirc. It's kind of Auckland's fault for not letting them do it overhead, as underground-cabling a city is rather expensive...

473274 2006-07-25 09:38:00 well they could do the North Shore since they are above ground thomas09 (10276)

I'm quite happy having something Aucklanders don't have :D
