705326 2008-09-20 05:26:00 Yes, the annoying thing is I was assured that the Hauppauge HVR-3000 could handle all NZ transmissions.

Seeing Hauppauge have admitted that WinTV won’t work and can’t be made to work in NZ on DVB-T, has anybody out there managed to get a Hauppauge HVR-3000 to work properly, with MediaPortal on DVB-T in NZ?

705327 2008-09-20 10:12:00 BM My 4000 works perfectly with Mediaportal on DVB-T (Your 3000 card is very similar indeed to mine. Mine has DVB-S2 which is not used in NZ is the only difference)

If you read the Mediaportal Forum I posted here earlier the New Zealand section you will see a few others have got the 3000 working fine also.

Power cinema that probably came with your card will work also, it is just a bit messy to set up compared to MediaPortal.

I have had PowerCinema working with the 4000 card. Originally when I got the card it didn't work with DVB-S or DVB-T but that was prior to DVB-T in NZ. After a lot of work with Hauppauge and Cyberlink and a couple of other Kiwis they came out with a few patches for it, by then when we got DVB-T here it worked fine. PowerCinema is fairly basic compared to MediaPortal.

Yes I read those sites you linked to Bantu but the registry hacks had me a bit Gun Shy.

Only WinTV came with my card but Hauppauge are sending me a PowerCinima disk. Don’t know how long that will take.

I’ll read the MediaPortal links again and see if I can get emotionally prepared.

I don't know what you mean by the registry hacks, I don't recall doing anything to the registry to make mine work.

I'll read again, maybe it wasn't MediaPortal that needed the hacks.

705331 2008-09-21 02:54:00 Well it looks like MediaPortal is out. :annoyed:

It wants Windows MediaPlayer 11 installed and I don’t.

Then it wants an update that requires Windows Genuine Disadvantage.

Not likely, it took me hours to get rid of that and stop it calling home every five minutes. Plus, it kept insisting I had a pirated OS when I’ve got the original disk.

Ever since I got rid of that WGA and turned off Windows Update I haven’t had any trouble with the OS or any other Microsoft product.

Soooooo, I wonder if PowerCinema can be installed without begging Microsoft’s permission. :annoyed:
