474505 2006-07-30 04:38:00 ....................."So I got my exercise and I never felt I had to shoot Red Indians on sight as a result of watching the film. I still can't fly like Superman and I can't yet make myself invisible as in Predator.

We all have to make our own choices and stand or fall by them.

About time everyone took responsibilty for their own actions and not blame others."

Sorry about your stand on that thought (in red, above)...it's not what the US Army said: www.washingtonpost.com

Here's an excerpt (bowing to James) from the article in case someone doesn't want to click the link and actually have to READ something....

Like many soldiers in the 276th Engineer Battalion, whose PlayStations and Xboxes crowded the trailers that served as their barracks, he played games during his downtime. "Halo 2," the sequel to the best-selling first-person shooter game, was a favorite. So was "Full Spectrum Warrior," a military-themed title developed with help from the U.S. Army.

474506 2006-07-30 09:16:00 When I was a youngster I used to watch westerns at the movie house . It was about a four mile walk to get there .

So I got my exercise and I never felt I had to shoot Red Indians on sight as a result of watching the film .

Really? I used to shoot a lot of Red Indians . They cunningly disguised themselves as 10 year old boys but I knew better . With my two trusty Texas Ranger cap pistols, many a macrocarpa tree . . . . . . . er . . . . . . . . dusty town/wagon train was saved .

I mean, when were any of you last attacked by Red Indians? Huh? That's cos guys like me were out there cleaning up the varmints . ;)

474507 2006-07-30 11:07:00 Ah, but you guys didn't have to be the Red Indian.

When I wanted to be in the replay of Saturday matinee movies in our local backyards, girls were only allowed to join if they'd be "the enemy."
So if you'd rather own a cap pistol than a doll, you found the cowboys' male club wouldn't let you use it.

But as none of them wanted to be the Indians, there was that way in...

And I did learn to make some really good bows and arrows.
And they can actually do more damage to the enemy than cap guns do..

474508 2006-07-30 11:14:00 [QUOTE] I disagree: everyone knows mcdonalds, bk, kfc etc are all unhealthy, blaming these companies for our own gluttony is just shifting the blame so we dont have to show any self control/responsibility.

We buy their food.

We are responsible.

it's not like they're forcing it down our throats

perhaps we should blame our employers for giving us a means to purchase said junkfood? it would be just as effective.

its not like i blame motorbike manufacturers every time i hurt myself because they didnt make their product foolproof at the cost of fun (or in the fast food case, taste). when i ride my bike, i expect to get hurt/crippled/killed. when i eat mcd's, i expect to get the ****s the next day (offsetting the weight gain somewhat). when i eat kfc, well, i learnt why not do that a loooong time ago lol - SECRET: chickens didnt evolve, they were genetically engineered by bacteria as a form of transport

Sure, if you contract an illness such as salmonella/diahrrea(sp?)/ebola/plague as a result of consuming their food, their fault. illness from overconsumption, our fault: when i threw up the other night i didnt blame flame/heiniken/whatever (i dont really remember ) for making such a tasty alchoholic beverage, or the mates who shouted the drinks

and same for tv, buy a bike/ball/cricket set/sneakers and get out there. i do think sitting on your ass watching nothing but tv can aid obesity, just like sitting here in front of my pc.

for the record i generally find the results from most studies like that to be very subjective and open for interpretation

[UN-QUOTE]

You do make a valid point there...

[QUOTE] PS: has anyone noticed that "i'm lovin' it" is a contraction of "i am loving it" which in turn is an anagram of "ailing vomit" [UN-QUOTE]

lol
