474234 2006-07-29 01:53:00 The Police usually hold an auction and auction off unclaimed lost property that has not been claimed after 6 months.

Trevor :)
A few years ago some scumbag broke into my garage and stole all my tools, I think it may have been the guy I caught taking my potbelly stove down my front steps, his excuse? "I didn't think there was anyone at home" oh...OK!
Anyhoo, I reported said theft to our men in blue explaining that my initials were heavily carved into each and every item. A few months later I was told that the Avondale Police station was having an "Open Day" so people could come down and see if any of their stolen items had been recovered. Unfortunately none of my gear was there. I described the markings on my stolen stuff to the officer in charge who told me "Oh I remember that stuff, it went to auction a few weeks ago" I Left, bewildered as to why they hadn't even bothered to check against any records. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

474235 2006-07-29 04:07:00 I've tried that one. The conversation tends to go; "So you admit that you sometimes speed? Do you own this car/... Are you sure it's not stolen/ Can I see your driver's license/ I'll just check your warrant and rego while we're here...."
Well unless you're in a hurry, so? Let them. Ultimately they can't do anything except look sh***y.

474236 2006-07-29 05:22:00 But but but... I own a fast car so that I can get there quicker than everyone else.

If Mr Plod 'dallies' then it means I will be there on time. :(

No, I have to say seriously that most of them are not too bad... just wish they'd spend more time dealing to idiot drivers.

474237 2006-07-29 12:59:00 this is old news. radar detectors, mags, ipods etc are regularly stolen and put on trademe. you just have to ask the right questions (simple ones of course) like, whats the serial number, why doesnt it have the box or manual, do you have the receipts. and yes it is illegal to receive stolen goods (even if it wasnt intentional), the police can take it off you and return it to the rightful owner. and theres not a thing you can do about it. it pays to do your research. Yeah but don't they just post their spam sites in threads to boost their Google (or other) search stats? Or am I crediting them with more intelligence than they actually have?

If they hook an idiot directly via the link, it's just cream for them....
