I currently have the following system specs Athlon X2 3800+ (Thinking of overclocking to 4400+) Geforce 8800GS TOP Edition 384mb 1GB of DDR2 All is great, Problem is the amount of RAM. In a couple of weeks I'll get another 1-2GB. But in a couple of days my mates are coming round to play Crysis and obviously 1GB of RAM is a problem. Just wanted to know what everyone would think the most RAM hogging settings are, obviously all settings will hog RAM, but which setting will hog the most? Texture, Lighting, Shadows? Thanks heaps. |

I've played it on my old 8800gts 320mb (as fast as new 8800GS 384) Also have a slightly OC'd edition so I should be good high settings 1024x768 once I get 2GB RAM, only problem now will be stuttering, I'll make sure I use no AF or AA, I'll keep texture at medium and I reckon objects on low for now. Any other ideas =) |

| 705959 | 2008-09-17 10:52:00 | Don't forget your OS can be hogging RAM. Turn off all the eye candy by running XP in classic mode. Also make sure you don't have unnecessary programs loading automatically when Windows starts. |

| 705960 | 2008-09-17 22:05:00 | I remember there being a program which could put windows XP into "Game Mode" I think it basically just changes some registry entries and disables all un-needed services, then restarts the PC - allowing maximum CPU and RAM usage for gaming. Then, after you're done, you just tell the program to restore settings and then you reboot again. Of course all this can be done manually, but the program is much easier. Problem is, I can't remember what it's called :lol: |

Turn post processing down as far as it will go, it does the blurring when you pan quickly, turning this off/down gives a quite significant performance boost. Turn shadows down as well, you wont really notice picture wise and will get a good improvement. You can also turn water down quite a bit to get better performance without it looking lame. |
