705306 2008-09-15 05:51:00 Oh dear, my TV reception on my Hauppauge HVR-3000 card running WinTV has turned to custard.

It can’t tune any DVB-T channels. I’ve changed aerials but no different.

The Analogue channels seem good, except there is no Prime.

The Satellite channels only tunes TV One & TV2 even though there are 102 found.

I thought something may have upset WinTV so I uninstalled all of it and reinstalled it but no change.

I’ve checked Hardware-Device Manager- System and no ? or !

Got me licked as to what I’ve done.

Sooooo, how do all you guy’s go about isolating the problem.

PS The Channels I do get are brilliantly clear.

705307 2008-09-15 08:33:00 If you cant get/tune Prime on your analogue channels, could be why you cant tune digital (uses UHF aerial), check cabling to both aerials and the diplexer/mixer.
Was it working on DVB-T? (video and sound?)

705308 2008-09-15 09:16:00 B.M. what software are you using?

Try MediaPortal. Setups and help here

forum.team-mediaportal.com

If PowerCinema was packaged with yours the same as it was with mine it is rubbish compared to MediaPortal.

705309 2008-09-15 21:22:00 Ok guys bear with me because now I'm getting more confused.

The card is a Hauppauge HVR-3000.

Now, I can't see anywhere in the documentation where it handles Analog transmission. Even when I purchased it I thought it only handled DVB-T, DVB-S and FM Radio.

However, the scan says it is recieving Analogue but not DVB-T.

Maybe if we can clear this matter up first we might find where the wheels fell off. :)

705310 2008-09-15 21:49:00 If you mean Analogue TV, it says it does on the site (www.hauppauge.co.uk) Speedy Gonzales (78)

Whoops, sorry about the spelling.

Excellent, that's hurdle one jumped. :thanks

705312 2008-09-15 23:04:00 B.M. what type of aerial are you using?
If you plug in a UHF aerial and it is pointing in the correct direction you should get DVB-T no problem.

705313 2008-09-16 01:31:00 That card AFAIK only does MPEG2 digital decoding in hardware (thru WINTV, which is designed for the UK market), you need extra software (like Mediaportal, DVBviewer or GB-PVR or similar) to decode the NZ broadcast which is MPEG4/H.264 (and you need a grunty comp to do it), but even so you should pick up the DVB-T channels even if you cant view them.
Can you receive Prime on your normal TV setup?
Just had a look at this (www.lincrad.co.nz) site, shows (under Bay Of Plenty) fairly patchy coverage in many places incl Mt Maunganui (no digital or Prime), so you might be out of luck depending where you are there.

705314 2008-09-16 04:07:00 Ok, thanks for your help guys and here’s where we’re up to .

I’ve set up a stand alone UHF aerial facing Te Aroha (I’m in Mount Maunganui)

Channel 10 - TV Four – Quite good signal - Coming off the Kopukairua transmitter (which is at almost exactly right angles to Te Aroha) according to the spectrum charts .

Channel 28 Sky Movies – Scrambled but sound fine – Off Te Aroha

Channel 32 Sky Sport – Scrambled but sound fine – Off Te Aroha

Channel 40 C Central – Excellent quality – Off Te Aroha

Channel 41 Maori TV – Poor quality – Can’t find what Transmitter that’s off . Neither Te Aroha or Kopukairua according to the channel charts .

Channel 44 Maori TV – Excellent quality – Off Te Aroha

Channel 52 Sky 1 – Scrambled but sound fine – Off Te Aroha

Channel 56 Sky/Trackside Excellent quality off Te Aroha

Channel 60 Prime – Clear & good sound but a wavy ripple through picture .

Now I should point out that the Kopukairua Transmitter is only a stone throw away but for some unknown reason it is useless in Mount Maunganui except for TV3 VHF Channel 7 . However, Te Aroha is fine for all analogue stations .

Regretfully, I still can’t detect one DVB-T channel off Te Aroha . :annoyed:

I’ve reinstalled WinTV and the new drivers yet again but no change .

As a matter of interest, can anybody give me a link to get Media Portal just to see if that helps .

Wonder if it’s the Hauppauge board?
