706015 2008-09-17 21:13:00 Hi all,

I have an XP Pro Sp2 PC with a red X error (source: disk) in the system event log which says the following...

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D"

I'm not sure what the "D" represents. The hard drive is a Seagate 160GB SATA with 1 primary partition C:

I've booted off the Seagate HDD test tool CD and tested hard drive with no errors?!?!

Is the hard drive at fault or is something else?

Cheers.

This could be either a faulty device, faulty ribbon/cable, or faulty header on Mother board. First try replacing the cable/ribbon between the device and MB, and make sure every thing is plugged in tight.
