474857 2006-07-30 22:42:00 A friend of mine got a phone call from a guy named Daniel claiming to have a package from his company "1 Stop Couriers" and they asked for his address and phone number for both his work and home and he was skeptical and didn't give out any info - The phone number they gave him was 0800111332

Does anyone have any idea who this number really is??

I.E if you ring them and ask them to pick up a package?

From or for his company?

As for the number, why don't you just dial it and tell us the result? I can't understand why you are asking the question if you haven't tried yourself.

Unless, of course, you are a spammer in disguise, it is a strange topic for a first post.

Cheers

474862 2006-07-31 00:21:00 They told him that it was sent to a wrong address but there was no way they could have got his cell#.
If you dont believe me ring it and when they say "HI 1 stop couriers" ask for a package to be picked up etc and you will see for yourselves - this isn't SPAM just a warning that it isn't a courier company (checked with the companies.govt) and im not sure exactly what it is but they want personal information.

Oh I have another account here which has a fair number of posts but would rather not,

Thanks.

EDIT : Ok I dialled it and asked if they could pick up a package for me and they said "ok just go to your post shop" then when I told then 1 stop couriers didn't exist as a company they got mad and hung up.

474863 2006-08-01 10:23:00 We used to use the old "we have a package for Mrs X" line when tracking down debts and only had a phone number - people LOVE getting parcels! Or the old standby, if you can find out a relative or old friend's contact details (thank you oldfriends.co.nz) say you are trying to track down Mrs X as you would like to invite her to an upcoming school reunion...

another good one is saying they have won a gift voucher in a recent 'Warehouse' promotion, and if we could have an address to post it to ....

Jeez you'd have to be stupid to fall for that crud . Or you had similarily mentally disabled customers .

474865 2006-08-02 03:05:00 Well while we're on and off the topic I borrowed 200 pounds off a friend in Britian once then we lost touch and so when I got back here I knew he was from originally Upper Hutt so i phoned every surname in the book of his and explained I was an old mate and owed X the money and was trying to get in touch to pay it back . Everyone said "Oh no no never heard of him . "

So there you go, still owe him . Goes both ways .

474866 2006-08-15 12:14:00 Hi

Yes I can confirm that 1 stop couriers is totally bogus. My flatmate recieved the same text message regarding a redirected package from "1 Stop Couriers" on 0800111332. The tex looked suspicious and it was clearly a debt collecter when I phoned on her behalf. They were very evasive and pushy in finding out her whereabouts and wanted an address. It's obviously not spam, but must be something to do with unpaid bills. The only thing she's ever been black marked against was an outstanding power bill.

I would advise against falling for this old trick

Cheers
