Personally I would have the dath sentance for anyone that harmed a child to the point of requiring hospital treatment. There has to be a line that can't be crossed. Don't want to die?......Then leave the children alone, simple really. |

The US is fickle on handing out proper sentences as well. Obviously you must be supportive of kid killers. Hmph. |

Beating the perps after the offence, or stringing them up or spearing them with pitchforks whatever takes your fancy, only takes place after the offence. One of the few things which makes me angry is violence against children. My blood boils when these tragic murders occur and we are all so helpless to do anything about it. My fundamental reaction is that these people should be hanged/shot/executed whatever. But things are never that simple. I also believe it is the mark of an enlightned society that there is no capital punishment. It doesn't prevent crime, is a slow legal process, and mistakes/injustices do happen. Having said that, if someone harmed my family, all bets are off. :mad: |

If some dorkbrain came at me or someone I care about I would react like the baying hounds above., but for a system of justice in our very privileged country I do not support violent solutions. | 475385 | 2006-08-04 08:45:00 | At the end of the execution, i can think of only 3 things are sure to be achieved. 1. The executed guy won't get a chance to re-offend 2. Public satisfaction :D 3. Saving in jail costs. I dought if it will do much to deter. What people keep overlooking is that a deterrent only works on healthy or at least rational people. Clearly someone who would beat their child to death over a long period of time is NOT healthy or rational. I suggest an arena type execution, with national televised viewing. This will help reclaim some of the costs of investigation and so forth, plus it will maximize any deterrent effect that may or may not exist. |

As far as i am concerned ...........NONE!! DON'T tell me its cause your broke or because your mother/father did it to you ........... DON'T tell me that you felt you were doing the right thing or that you felt you had no choice. To say your SORRY wont bring back a life or give back the childhood you stole, to say your sorry WONT bring back a loved one or make amends. To go to jail, wont make what you did right, .......... but to DIE there ..................... may mean another life/innocence was saved. To blame such a horrific crime on anything other than themselves is an excuse a reason! EVERYONE has something or someone in their lives that has caused them pain or anguish. EVERYONE wakes up EVERYDAY with the same choice....... to kill someone today or to rape or steal.... EVERYONE of US has that choice ... right now... yesterday ..... tomorrow.... THEY had this choice .......... they chose to do what they did .... they chose to beat that child over and over and OVER again. The answer ................... NO excuses .......... NO reasons ............. simply a choice made by someone weaker than us..... Evil? Who knows but there will always be those who choose this road ... there will always be those who blame religion or parents or circumstances .. WHY? Because they are weak! Our problem? WE need to stop complaining about having to pay for these idiots to rot in jail... ... and THEM (government) NEED to take away the damn TVs and gyms and put them there and keep them there TILL DEATH DO THEY PART!!!
