2006-08-07 16:40:00 | Sick . I take exception to that, Nigudo! I loved that old woman very much and I am far and away the better for her association with me, the community and people she met and talked to/with every day . I seek another person of the same ilk, morality, sense of fairness and all-around comraderie . Since she was a Kiwi, I feel that anyone else of other lineage would be shy of the type of person she was to me . Even after she went blind, she still had her duties, as she called them to take care of daily . She was sadly missed by people at the market at which she shopped, even after blindness took over, She prospered for another 5 or 6 years, never complaining about her new handicap . . . she just did everything the same as before . . . . . I even thing she still wanted to drive! A bright lamp and broadcast antenna of morality and correctness is no longer radiating warmth, love and appreciation . We all miss her greatly . Applications are being accepted . . . but they would have very large shoes to fill!

2006-08-07 23:48:00 | Go SurferJoe!... if you can find someone now days with those qualities you're very lucky indeed. PS my bro lives in SD, but he may not be 'up to scratch' and probably not willing to wear a dress, however he did utter the famous/infamous "That is not a very Corinthian thing to do" comment during a a world famous yachting Race, so he may have some morals :D

The Corinthians were kinda 2-dimensional, but they had hearts that could be approached and modified . They usta be thinking people . . . but I cannot speak for the modern ones . If your bro-in-law shaves his legs (and tells his friends it's for swimming or bicycling competition), he may then just wear shorts and a halter top . Feigning blindness is not necessary . Does he have an accent? It helps . :p |

2006-08-08 07:12:00 | I take exception to that, Nigudo!Ignore Nigudo's random comment - it was not directed at you personally and this would of been a randomly chosen thread to post it in. We were getting a few repeat irritations the last few days here. That particular source should stop now. | Jen (38) | |
2006-08-08 09:27:00 | Anyway - back to Tom Waits. Funnily enough, life is full of coincidences, Mrs Misty and I were down in Hamilton last weekend staying a couple of nights with some friends. We were talking about music and Tom Waits was mentioned. My friend went out to his car and pulled out six Cd's. He listens to him all the time just now. He said that three are particularly good. One being from 1993 and another from 1999 (do'nt think he identified the third). He played both the aforementioned. One track was "Waltzing Matilda" which was very good. The best track though was "What's he doing" and is all spoken and quite weird -- but fun !! If we had visited my friend 4/5 months earlier we would not have discussed the topic of Tom Waits. It's a funny life. Misty ;)

2006-08-08 15:30:00 | My wife . . . a professionally trained operatic voice/singer hates Tom Waits . That said . . . I make sure that his cd is in the player in the kitchen for her to accidently play from time to time . Seeing him on tv being interviewed by late night celebrities lets you know that he is really quite human and intelligent . His concern for his kids and the horses he owns makes him a real person, not just a character . I am impresssed by his talent, although some people think he's a joke . His spoken voice is nothing like his singing voice . Playing the piano and accompanying himself seems to lend the most to his creativity . Perhaps his voice isn't so much a singing voice, just another instrument making music . . youtube . com/watch?v=ExyRMqX8eOA" target="_blank">www . youtube . com . youtube . com/watch?v=M8TPtN8nNSU&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com . youtube . com/watch?v=f0p0NjsciOY&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com on Letternam, various years . . . . . youtube . com/watch?v=mfwiZKCtC3Q&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com . youtube . com/watch?v=lX1qpcDchD4&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com 1985 pt 1 . youtube . com/watch?v=Zz4Tz9XB_TM&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com 1985 pt 2 . youtube . com/watch?v=v7-cTkKWdwg&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com Chocolate Jesus . . . classic! . youtube . com/watch?v=1wfamPW3Eaw&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com In the movie Domino . . . . youtube . com/watch?v=1rgHYp99hYs&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com On Martin Mull's "Fernwood Tonight" . youtube . com/watch?v=R_0E7x3Nqys&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com chanted with drum (slightly risque') . . . . . . youtube . com/watch?v=Aup7ZJXAOsU&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com a great video . . . not for the kiddies though (a little scary from Lord Of The Rings!) . youtube . com/watch?v=tzxR-18tOQE&mode=related&search=" target="_blank">www . youtube . com
