Do we have good figures on the percentage of broadband and dial-up users of the internet in New Zealand, Australia and other countries? |

I was having a discussion with one of our Colleges who indicated that websites are now designed for Broadband, when I complained about how long the site took to load on my dial-up (I can't get Broadband). |

I wouldn't say that most websites are designed for broadband as such, but there is certainly less care taken to make sure pages load as quickly as possible on dial-up connections (kind of like there is less care to make sure sites load on resolutions lower than 1024 x 768). When you are on a broadband connection, it is very easy to forget just how slow dial-up is but I think in general most sites aren't to harsh on dial-up users. :) |

Any web designer worth his/her salt will design pages of around 50k to 60k or less in size. The majority of people around the world do not have broadband and I ain't switching to broadband until our service providers get their price sh*t together. |

Just use FF or Opera and block the ads that'll solve the loading time. |

I read from stuff.co.nz a few months ago something like 85% of people in nz are on dialup |

So, if the majority are still on dial-up, are we talking 55%, 65%, 75% or more? In other words how big is the tail wagging the dog? |
