707634 2008-09-25 03:56:00 I have an IBM Thinkpad R31 ( yes I know its old but its all I need ) and I cant seem to get decent battery life.
The original IBM battery was a NiCad and would typically last for less than an hour of net surfing. I had it replaced under warranty and the new one would last about 1.5 hours before it too became so bad that the lappy wouldnt even have time to boot up before it shut down.

I recently bought a Lithium Ion battery for it from an online laptop battery specialist in the south island.
It started out well, lasting nearly 2 hours but that was 2 months ago. Now it barely goes for 5 minutes. Every time its charged/discharged it seems to loose at least 10% of its capacity.
So now I have a 2 month old battery that goes for 5 minutes.
I was of the understanding that LithIon batteries didnt have memory issues?

What then, can I do to resurrect or recondition a laptop battery?

Ah but is it 2 months old? Its probably used. They die after a while. Thats all there is to it. Send it back and demand a New one.

I guess it was cheap for a reason :badpc:
