707618 2008-09-25 02:00:00 My wife has just bought an MP3 Player, Samsung T10 - 8 GB, with bluetooth headphones. Can I connect this to my Panasonic stereo/CD/DVD set-up ? bazmeister (3216)
707619 2008-09-25 02:12:00 It has a normal headphone output too? Does your stereo have RCA inputs on the back like this (www.geocities.com)?

If so, you'll need one of these (www.playtech.co.nz) cables.

707620 2008-09-25 02:18:00 Wow, thanks for the speedy reply. That makes it pretty simple...probably have a cable like that in my junk pile. As I have several options, i.e. tuner, dvd, cd, etc ... will I need to select a particular item to enable the mp3/wap format to play...? bazmeister (3216)
707621 2008-09-25 02:20:00 It will normally be called AUX or Video, but may well be DVD or something too. Just play some music on the MP3 player, crank the stereo up and flick through the inputs till you find the right one. wratterus (105)
707622 2008-09-25 03:03:00 OK - results so far....

After a lot of fiddling finally got some sound through, but on only one of the speakers. Inserted the two plugs into Aux and selected same in the Dvd/Cd player.Very reduced sound, less than average volume at full noise selection. The plug input into the MP3 unit was very sensitive and cut-out at the lightest turn.

Checked the sound system with CD - all OK and functioning normally.

The cable looks to be brand new and probably came with something I bought and didn't use.

Does this ring a bell ? I'll find another cable later on and try that - just means dismantling something round the back of the TV....cheers

707623 2008-09-25 03:09:00 I can't comment on the connection issues, but the output sound quality will be heavily dependant on the quality of the mp3 file you are playing.
Eg. the bitrate, whether it has stereo channels etc

707624 2008-09-25 03:10:00 The volume on the MP3 player was cranked right up was it? It sounds like a dodgy cable was causing the connection issues, but you should have had plenty of volume. wratterus (105)
707625 2008-09-25 03:15:00 Found another cable and tried that but same result....along with distortion and loud buzzing if cable slightly moved. Both cables I used look brand new but will be years old - wondering if they are "specced" high enough for the job...? bazmeister (3216)
707626 2008-09-25 03:19:00 can you try it on a different stereo? It should be working. :p wratterus (105)
707627 2008-09-25 05:38:00 I've tried using my Mp3 player on my stereo too, I notice you need to turn the volume up quite high on the Mp3 player to get acceptable volume levels Agent_24 (57)
