707299 2008-09-23 23:43:00 Hi there!

I have done a quick search on the Office forum but not sure if it answers my problem as it was about Office 2000!

When I double click on a MS Word/Excel 2003 document it takes a few minutes to open. Any one know why and how I can get them to open a lot quicker please? Oh, and for a little while (20/30 seconds) the whole computer freezes!

I will try deleating the Word normal.bat as has been explained here (Press F1) somewhere. But I can't seem to find a possible Excel template to delete. Is there one??

Regards,
Adrain :D

707300 2008-09-23 23:46:00 What size are the files?

Have you waited for at least 30 seconds after logging on?

BTW it's Normal.dot and I'm not sure if Excel has a default template.

707301 2008-09-24 01:48:00 Hi there
We have this issue in our office all the time for users running XP and any version of office when there is a network drive mapped but unavailable, ie laptop users out of office mostly

As soon as we disconnect the mapped drive it works fine

I havent found a fix for this (Vista appears ok so far) and have been running all service packs

Check your network connections are present and report back

Thanks
