Quick question; anyone know for sure if IBM motherboards are proprietary, or do they conform to the usual ATX/mATX forms? |

I have worked on some that had proprietary hardware - but thats not to say they all are. |

I guess the only way to know for sure is to move the mobo from one case to another and see if the mounts line up |

I friend of mine has an old IBM which uses a standard mATX board (and a fairly sensible chassis)
I've never opened one of those real thin desktop IBMs but going by the location of everything on the outside, I'm pretty sure they'd be nonstandard... |

I just opened up a new M-series today, and the hard drive is mounted at the back of the case with the sata connection nearly poking out the back - dvdrom is in the normal place still - I think it's to make room for the heatsink, which takes up half the case!! It's just a core 2 duo though . . . . . certainly different to all the other IBM's we have though! |
