706915 2008-09-22 07:59:00 Hi All.

I have an Excel spreadsheet 5 columns wide & rows down to 279.
I want to extend this down the page, to say 500. I have done this before but cannot remember how. Can anybody help, please? PJ

706916 2008-09-22 08:08:00 If it is Series your talking about then select the cells you want to copy down and choose Edit, Fill, Series then type in the increments you want, 1 or week etc Bantu (52)

706920 2008-09-22 09:10:00 Hi PJ, is this formulas or just values you entered?

If it's formulas you can drag down as mentioned previously or select Edit|Goto and enter A279:E500 and this will select cells to copy down then select Edit|Fill Down.

If its values then you must select a minimum of 2 rows to continue a series. For example say cells A1:A5 have 1,2,3,4,5 respectively. Selecting A5 an d dragging down will only copy down 5. Selecting A4:A5 and dragging down will continue the series 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc. Sometimes you need to select 3 rows depending upon the series.

If this doesn't help you may have to provide some more info - perhaps an example of the last few rows?

cheers,
Graham

706923 2008-09-22 11:32:00 You could "Copy Special" and only paste the formatting. beeswax34 (63)

Sorry, you didn't mention formatting but glad you sorted it. You can also quickly copy formats by using the format painter icon (looks like a paintbrush, usually located next to the paste icon in the toolbar).

1) Select the cell that has the formatting you want to apply
2) Click the format painter icon
3) Select the cells you want to be formatted

cheers,
Graham
