477970 2006-08-12 11:46:00 Does any one here use Google Sitemap? Nope. Why? Greg (193)
477971 2006-08-12 21:09:00 Yep all the time. If you are serious about getting indexed in Google, its almost an necessity now.

Heaps of discussions about it on webmasterworld.com. Google are turning the stemap page into a webmasters tool kit as well with other features.

I generate my sitemaps with A1 sitemap generater, which I bought but ther are free sitemap generaters around on the net.

I totally recommend it, since I started my hits from google through their search engine have increased heaps.

477972 2006-08-13 05:01:00 netchicken, Have you used Google Sitemap with osCommerce?? stu161204 (123)
477973 2006-08-13 19:45:00 No, just with a messageboard and html pages. The messageboard requires you to look at the urls initially to filter out those that you don't want indexed - links with words in them like profile, action, etc which are not the pages for viewing.

Post your url here and I will generate one for you if you like. I could either post the sitemap here, and you could cut and paste it or email it to you.

477974 2006-08-13 19:49:00 Oh, another important tool in the sitemaps page is to choose if you want google to index your site with www or not .

It then changes all the site information in google's db to one or the other . This stops the fear of getting a "duplicate content" issue, and puts all your results on one type . I make google set my site without the www in it .

That way if you do a site:yourwebsite . com command it shows all the content of the site, as opposed to dividing it between www or not .
