477958 2006-08-12 06:43:00 Hi

My trusty 25yr old battery clock radio alarm is on its last legs, and Im looking for a replacement.

I looked over Noel Leeming, Dick Smith & Bond & Bond today, none of them have such a thing anymore.

Until Mobile phones come with an Alarm Clock & Radio, where do I go looking for a replacement.

I travel occasionally and dont trust the mains powered units, some of which are a hassle to set up the Alarm function, so my ow battery powered unit has been real handy. But it seems they are no longer being sold in NZ.

If you know of some, can you please post a Link.

Thanks..............John in Mosgiel.

477961 2006-08-13 02:30:00 I use that particular one when travelling.
It's even shortwave 10 - 20 MHz as well as normal AM and FM bands.

The alarm side is a "beep-beep" rather than the radio coming on, which is a benefit I find as it does not matter if its on or off a station and is indepedent of the volume setting.

They have one that is $10 cheaper as well now, unsure what the difference is.

What sort of places do you stay that don't have a clock radio?

My Nokia 6585 (not new by any means) has an alarm clock & radio . I travel frequently and use the alarm clock function all the time . It doesn't wake me to the radio, it wakes me to the ringtone of my choice . The radio can only be played over the headset .

477965 2006-08-13 06:52:00 Of course Cicero just writes the time he wants to be woken by on the fridge door, then takes the fridge along? godfather (25)
477966 2006-08-13 07:09:00 As long as it goes beep beep and plays music on short wave is all some people want, you have to laugh at the requirements of some. Cicero (40)
477967 2006-08-13 08:19:00 Actually all I wanted was an FM radio, and an easy to set alarm .

Until I got it home, never realised it was also multi-band .

But its a good FM and AM radio, and the alarm time is easy to set .
The key requirements are therefore met .
I doubt the short wave feature will be wanted .
