Specwise its a little bland and it dones not seem to include much in the way of software or hardware (no bluetooth but has wifi) but its cheap.

Is there anyone here that has one of these and what are your recommendations/comments?

Thing is knowing my luck, I probably won't use it for much anyway...
So i'd probably waste money on it anyway.. but its a decent price for brand new........

477185 2006-08-08 20:28:00 I bought one of these a couple of months ago and I'm very happy with it. I only intend to use it for Internet access, storing photos and word processing, so it meets my needs fine. When I first got it, I thought the keyboard was really terrible but it seems to have improved a bit as it's worn in.

Bear in mind that this model usually ships with only 256Mb of RAM, so you'll need to factor in the cost of adding another 256Mb or 512Mb as this will make a huge difference to its performance. It's designed so that the RAM is easily user upgradeable.

477186 2006-08-08 20:37:00 My only complaint is the antivirus software being a 3 month trial. Some of that may have been used up just sitting on the shelf. When it does run out, you will need to buy a license or replaced the software (as I did on my Dell, replaced McAfee with AntiVir) pcuser42 (130)

This is pretty standard practise with all computer suppliers, though, isn't it?

477188 2006-08-08 22:02:00 I take it that its not a proper XP CD but one of those recovery ones? bob_doe_nz (92)
477189 2006-08-10 12:08:00 Hmm, no XPCD (as usual greedy buggers), no serial, no parallel, average sound output and only 256 ram...

But thin profile, decent screen output, solid keys, DDR2 (not that it matters) and wifi at the flick of a switch.

Could be better, but not too bad for $898...

Uninstall the Acer programs and she runs noticably better.

Now to see if reinstalling using a proper XP cd means not spitting up a serial key error.

And forget about hAggling the price down on this item... the buggers won't bargain.
