477137 2007-10-11 08:20:00 Hey peeps :D

The reason I am bringing this up is I have just gotten a Kyosho STR, just got it up and running tonight and ran a tank through it up and down the drive way and damn! she pulls! :D

Looks like I am going to have some fun times with her!

Hmm, what to name her...? :D

477138 2007-10-11 09:48:00 Used to be a RC hobbyst long, long time ago. This thread makes me recall those sweet memories. I was having a Associated 1/8 scale car with a Futaba controller. BTW, I still have all those gears in a box in the garage. I practically built every parts of the car myself and it's fun.

Those Were The Days!

477140 2007-10-11 19:47:00 Any idea of the name of that Associated car you have?

It's a Associated RC500 4WD and I have a Futaba Digital Proportional Radio Control - Magnum PCM FP-3PG.X and a EX-9 3 Channel System KO PROPO radio control. I belief they are all still in good working conditions. :D

477141 2007-10-13 17:58:00 Hey people . :)

One of my hobbies is RC Cars, and I have recently been looking into the fuel versions, the likes of HPI Savage X and what not . . . (they run on 20% nitro)

And what I was wondering is, where is it possible to get these types of cars from (well this exact one) and also where can the fuel be found?

Also what is the price of the fuel if anyone knows?

If anyone knows of some good shops around the Wellington area that they can reccommend that would be great :)

Thanks :)

I still make fuel for friends who fly R/C . . . and I get the alky from Dan Gurney or SoCal Racing Fuel, and I have a Pyrotec license so I can still buy nitro .

If you get your own nitro, be sure to refrigerate it and don't let it change color . . . once it's even turned slightly green-ish, it is spontaneous and can blow just by looking at it wrong .

I like to get my nitro a little unstable in a hot room for about 1/2 day and them mix it INTO the alky . . . not the other way around!!!! It yields a lot more power too .

Mix it to the proportion(s) you like, using a specific gravity bulb or just figger percentages by volume .

Making you own is really really cheap . . . it is about 1/20th of the cost of buying the store-bought product .

I like to mix some 50% for the pattern and 1/4 racers and I usually make a lot of 15% for the rest .

I add Klotz oil or for some real fun, Castor-R racing oil . K&B oil is another good product, but it is synthetic . We used to get a product called Torq-O, which was a peanut oil . . . smelled Soooo-oooo-o good!

Please . . . let me say again . . . keep that nitro cold!!!!!!

A 5 GALLON CAN OF GREEN NITRO CAN LEVEL SEVERAL CITY BLOCKS .

Rather enjoyed the Revenge of E-Savage as well. Is that your workshop at the end (with all the cars)?

That is another one I am going to look at getting once the bank has recovered :D :p Thanks for the link, I will have a look.

SJ - I prefer to leave the mixing to the profesionals... cause as you said it is potentially dangerous stuff!

Took her out to the local park and let her rip :D had a few wheelies, up on two wheels going round corners and pulled a stoppie after landing a jump :D ha ha, Out to the local RC track this afternoon
