707305 2008-09-24 00:07:00 Hello I am thinking of buying an Asus eah3650 Silent Magic video card. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this card and could tell me if it's a good choice?
I intend to game and use design software on it.

707306 2008-09-24 01:15:00 Not for gaming. you'd want an 48xx card. pctek (84)
707307 2008-09-24 02:25:00 You reckon 3650 chipset is not good for gaming? 48 series is a little out of my price range. 3850 is probably for me. Or my friend says nVidia 8800. sammo450 (13626)

Yeah 8800 series would be OK.

707309 2008-09-24 03:16:00 The cheapest 8800GT is only $60 cheaper than the cheapest 4850 on pricespy... If it were me I'd go for a bit extra. Thebananamonkey (7741)
707310 2008-09-24 20:07:00 I have a 512mb ASUS EN8600GT Silent in a machine here & although only 540Mhz it has been running 'sweet as' with COD4, Crysis, video prod work (Avid Liquid & Prem Pro)etc. Doesn't seem to run too hot either. I think from memory it was only about $125. (@1680 x 1050 px) fnphoto (2434)
707311 2008-09-25 02:20:00 Ok thanks I have been looking at a silent asus 9600gt card which looks pretty damn good for $220. sammo450 (13626)

That 86GT would definitely struggle @ that resolution!, there isnt much room at that res with my 96GT...

707313 2008-09-29 01:02:00 Would the 86GT run 3DSMAX 2009 ok? I like playing around with demanding software. I think in games 1280x1024 would be perfectly fine for me as I currently run all my games at 800x600. The nVidia mx440 is a little dated now. sammo450 (13626)
707314 2008-09-29 01:53:00 Anything would be better than MX440, however $30 diff between std 8600GT and 9600GT, I would get the 9600GT SolMiester (139)
