1430756 2017-01-17 06:56:00 I have a 6yo Netcomm NB6Plus4w which seems to be getting a bit flakey so I am doing some tests but also looking at replacing it with something with a better 802.11 rating. We are not power users so we don't need top of the line, but something from a reputable brand and not an el cheapo like some of the providers dish out as freebee bait. Recommendations please.

TIA

1430757 2017-01-17 07:19:00 Have a look at Chill's notes on the matter www.c2s.co.nz CliveM (6007)
1430758 2017-01-17 11:08:00 Wow I can't believe those things are still around!
The NB6Plus4W wasn't quite as good as reliable as the NB6Plus4Wn, but I'm glad to hear you've got some good mileage outta it regardless.

Depending on how techie you are, it's quite easy to get the DrayTek DV130 + a Gargoyle router (Like the Archer C7) up and going. Amazingly reliable, you're future proofed for VDSL2 as well as UFB, 802.11ac, 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz, fantastic coverage... Or yeah check out a big rant about it I did a month or two ago like CliveM said! :D

1430759 2017-01-19 10:20:00 Thanks CliveM - I read your link, and thanks Chill - I had already read your very informative blog by the time I read your post. My computer is on a small desk which is very short of room, so I am hoping I can get another suitable wireless modem/router combo which would not require extra space.

Any suggestions to fit that bill?

TIA.

1430760 2017-01-19 20:01:00 The TP-Link TD-W8980 is a pretty solid all in one ADSL modem that won't break the bank. wratterus (105)

Yup I was using this when I was on ADSL. It was pretty stable. Was trying to use it with Fibre since the TPlink site said you can use it as a wireless modem.

But what it said and what I did didn't work

So, it's looking at the walls of the wardrobe now lol

1430762 2017-01-19 22:09:00 I bought myself a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi VDSL/ADSL D7000 Modem Router for Christmas. My Spark technicolor TG589 v2 was getting too slow for my liking. I am now more than happy with the much improved speed. My new Netgear Modem Router is much more stable than spark's technicolor.

I am on VDSL but the Modem Router is also ADSL compatible.
