2016-12-06 05:39:00 | I voted for a new flag. Perhaps this might show why we need one: www.stuff.co.nz Housing bubble? It's only a bubble if you are an investor, buying up houses with loans. Can't say any drop or steadying of price will make one bit of difference to me and my Akld house. In the long term: First house we bought was $23,500. Sold it for $148,000. Second house bought for $168,000. Sold for $268,000. And this one $262,500. Not intending to sell this one. So bubble?? It's all figures on paper.... And how it's supposed to be Mr Keys fault I don't know... (no, I didn't vote for him). But geez, the **** that gets said about whoever the current PM is...... You don't have to be an investor to get caught in a housing bubble, just get a large mortgage and then lose your job in the economic downturn. Of course its his fault he is the dear leader so he takes the rap.

2016-12-06 08:41:00 | Key's good points: - likable bloke - not bad speaking off-the-cuff - could be trusted with royalty Bad points: - did not adequately address child poverty - sold assets to avoid addressing the real economy - sold land to foreigners for the same reason - did not adequately address housing unaffordability - used his personal popularity to ignore the common man - caused a huge transfer of wealth to the rich eg by property inflation - left New Zealand in a precarious state with too many people on the edge of joblessness Bloomberg TV are using NZ as the world standard for housing unaffordability ("...Canada second only to NZ"). It's very hard to burst a housing bubble without causing severe economic damage. So the bubble will not burst. Instead ordinary people will suffer by being forced into renting, paying through the nose for substandard overcrowded accommodation. They won't have any spare money to spend, the economy will take a hit, unemployment will increase... I suspect Key knows all this and has decided to get out quick

2016-12-06 11:39:00 | You asked for it :D 7716 That's a bit savage, especially that middle one. Not even house trained, she had to be kept out of the house for a while. Can they grind an organ between them, or are they just taking the cup 'round to collect money? Still, if that's the best they can offer, it will have to do.... Just think of those who laughed at Trump - now look what we have on offer :(

Although even just having bought one with a big mortgage and not losing job can mean you can get negative equity....but most won't notice much of an issue. And yes, it could be worse....Ms Collins (shudder) |

2016-12-07 00:50:00 | I suspect Key knows all this and has decided to get out quick Im sure he knows where NZ is eventually headed , an economy always on the edge (and allways has been) The real issue is kiwi's want a 1st world standard of living : via an economy based on 2 of the lowest levels of making money for the country NZ economy is based on farming & tourism, now topped up by with lots of overseas funds from insurance payouts . We dont have a rock star economy, is all based on borrowed money (either private or Govt borrowing) NZ makes nothing of huge value to the world. Milk , meat & we pour drinks for tourists. Nat or Labour, it would have made little difference to the Av Joe .
