1429982 2016-12-22 01:17:00 Thanks for info for torque wrench and head bolts. The pullers I mean are the straight leg type (goo.gl) (Google Images) with two through bolt/screws - They seem new (on ebay anyway), compared to the standard curved legged gear 6 inch gear pullers and pitman pullers.

We will cut between the two access floor panels under front seats, to lift the engine out. My neighbor just bought a engine-less Estima, from a ex-mechanic - and he left a clue - cutout metal strip between panels. I took pics - see below. Will get a movable hoist to swing the engine alone out - may remove the door. We could raise the van and screw jack support the rear. I also have a pile of massive/heavy train brake iron shoes/pads which I use for chocking. But hoist from above seems easy. Gonna sawzall/cut the roof soon to pull out sunroof. The raised Previa pic I downloaded from a forum...

1429983 2016-12-22 06:27:00 I have never seen a vehicle like that .

The last rig that was anywhere near that goofy was the Toyota all wheel drive van, and I refused to work on it . Even changing spark plugs was an all day grinder .

To replace the water pump was an act of god .

Who designs junk like that?

In your situation, and with a Sawsall . . . miracles can happen I guess .

I just couldn't sell a customer a new moonroof on the top of their car to change their distributor cap .

The timing belt on that Toyota had the front driveshaft going right through it and to change it required removal of the front driveline to take the belt off .

It appears the dropping of the K-member via a chain coming through the roof to lower it to the ground is somewhat mechanically arcane . . . . . . . but it will work if you're not doing it for a friendly neighbor who's also an attorney .
