2017-02-06 20:10:00 | Since Wednesday Last week they have had a problem with some people .... let me correct that for you :) Since early December they have had a problem with some people ........ Its been 1 issue after the other since Dec . What I had to do for a while was to go back to using yahoo's smtp . This is only a temp fix On one of my email programs, xtra smtp stopped working, yahoo smtp would work OK . On my other PC , no issues at all so far with the same xtra email a/c ..... You could also try sending via smtp2go . Not a good fix but at lest the email will send

2017-02-06 20:24:00 | I've been unable to send emails for the last 4 days using Thunderbird and xtra. (I can receive emails OK.) The error message is... "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 You are not authorized to send as xxxxx@xtra.co.nz" are you sending via a 3rd party authenticated email address. This is going to causes issues for some small companies out there or are you sending via a xtra email alias, sub email adress (not the master/main email adress) ? www.geekzone.co.nz

2017-02-06 22:06:00 | AND the fun and problems continues to get even worse (if that's possible) ;) 7853 7854 Seriously for a company like Spark, the amount of problems and the time taken to sort them is disgusting. :(

2017-02-06 23:27:00 | Not sure it's actually Spark's fault though, probably the problems stem from Yahoo!, and I bet it's harder to troubleshoot for Spark because it's not their servers. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2017-02-06 23:59:00 | Not sure it's actually Spark's fault though, probably the problems stem from Yahoo!, and I bet it's harder to troubleshoot for Spark because it's not their servers . some of the issues will be due to the changeover : on Sparks choice of new email service provider . eg, the XP email 'issue' . Spark should have known this before hand, lack of due diligence . I would have thought the 1st thing spark should ask of the new email provider : what are you min specs for email client , what wont work after the changeover we cant keep blaming yahoo :) We all could have guessed it wouldnt be a smooth transition The other question , how much were Spark willing to pay for this new FREE email service . Didnt they go with the cheapest possible tender ? If so , what level of service/reliability . Im not sure why a company as wealthy as Spark didnt just do it all in-house and then have 100% control . No lessons learnt from farming off xtra email to yahoo & MSN ?

2017-02-07 03:54:00 | Latest xtra issue , just a heads up sending to xtra.co.nz email adress now being bounced (spf ?) when it worked last week. Only heard of 1 company with this issue, so far ....... perhaps the new may servers have some incoming spam filter issues when Spark first went to Yahoo : weeks of spam filter issues . Planning, lack of. (?)

2017-02-07 05:05:00 | Is Spark's new email provider their own sub company? I see they have a new data centre in Takanini but uncertain what they are using it for but the change over for emails came not long after they had it operating. It's not their first time they shifted email, msn to yahoo but it's the first time they brought it to NZ, which maybe the network admins have not undertaken a task this huge before. The problems will eventually be sorted but a timeframe be hard to predict. It would be a lot of work to perfect it though.

2017-02-07 06:24:00 | Still no joy sending emails from Thunderbird! I've been thinking. My current email address (eg xxxx@xtra.co.nz) was originally set up as a "sub address" (I think that's what Yahoo! called it) under my master email address (say mmmm@xtra.co.nz). A year or two ago they inactivated mmmm@xtra.co.nz because of no activity. I wonder if that's why the current system is ging me the message "You are not authorized to send as xxxx@xtra.co.nz" Could that be the cause? Guess the tecs wouldn't be interested in my ideas!

2017-02-07 10:10:00 | Had a Mac today running Outlook 2011 and would not send emails. Updated to Outlook 2016 and now works. XP with Outlook Express not working but have limited clients with this so not many calls. Have had different email software, some old some new give issues. Some work with send.xtra.co.nz and when this doesn't work I try smtp.mail.yahoo.com and it mostly does work. Sparks new imap.xtra.co.nz works for some and not others and so go back to imap.mail.yahoo.com. I just try different options and most times it works but not always. Sometime one device will work and another will not on the same account. When are Spark starting to move the email?

2017-02-08 01:36:00 | Still no joy sending emails from Thunderbird! I've been thinking . My current email address (eg xxxx@xtra . co . nz) was originally set up as a "sub address" (I think that's what Yahoo! called it) under my master email address (say mmmm@xtra . co . nz) . A year or two ago they inactivated mmmm@xtra . co . nz because of no activity . I wonder if that's why the current system is ging me the message "You are not authorized to send as xxxx@xtra . co . nz" Could be part of it . Im guessing its in fact just another xtra weekly issue :badpc: :badpc: The master email address wouldnt/shouldnt have been totally inactivated/deleted . Thats your free email that spark gives you & spark send notifications to that email (usually) You may have needed to login via webmail to reactivate it . the sub-adress(alias) might get lost in the switch over, if its just an alias . Does anyone know what will happen to xtra email aliases after the move , will they also be moved across ? try webmail & see if you can login . Then try changing email smtp setting to either yahoos or xtra's smtp . Some people fixed this send issue by changing to yahoos smtp . smtp . mail . yahoo . com port 465
