1431368 2017-01-31 21:53:00 The idea is to scan hand written or printed from A4 lined paper as text. I realise that , up to now, the idea has a long way to go before coming anywhere near perfect. Same as speech to text. The number of corrections may be too many to justify the bother, & just type the material into a Word Doc. Your Para 3 says it all. PJ

Like you PJ, I am doing family trees and caught up in all this are old WILLS.

Always been advised that there is no software to convert handwritten documents and the only way is to pay $$$$ for someone conversant in old writing to transcribe it.

1431372 2017-02-05 22:07:00 To find a folder.

Good folk on here gave a very good small program and it's quick:

everthing

If you can remember any one word for the file name, it will find it.

Christchurch City Council wanted early photos of Canterbury and I knew I had some of my G-Grandfather's shop in Southbridge going back to the 1880's.

So I had the choice of any word in bold above.

Finally typed in 1880 and up it popped in everything, doubled clicked on that and there was the photo of the shop, with hanging sheep out on the front verandah, lol.
