1430711 2017-01-16 06:35:00 Maybe you got it from the wrong place. The ONLY warning or so called "malware" is a temp setup file that tries to connect back home just like 99% of all software.

Installed What was Kingsoft / WPS on lots of customers computers as well as my own and no signs of malware, browser hijacks or any other type of unwanted "extra".

Not my personal experience, but a person who had downloaded the problem, who I was trying to help. Ended up having to get Revo onto it, and Nod 32 plus AdWcleaner. You name it, I threw all the big guns at it that I could. Had to give up in the end and pass the problem onto someone else. He then had to do a complete reinstall of their OS and in the process lost all of their files etc!
Arrgh , what a nightmare, and then she blamed me!

LL My educated guess is there was an underlying problem & cause. Some people who search for software get it from non legit locations and install all sorts of rubbish.

WPS only has two options when installing to tick /untick 1. Liecence Agreement & 2. Join their Community.

Any Others and its a fake installer.
"IF" they have added any thing it will have only been recent, - See link below.

Heres a result / test from October last year - 29 Different AV's all tested as clean kingsoft-office-free.en.lo4d.com

Having to reinstall a OS and losing data ?? Not very knowable then, had some OS's that were completely unbootable and still easy enough to save /recover data.

helps if you know how to do things

Off Topic but relating to above in bold - Today, at a guys place to collect his (windows10) Computer, apparently some other Computer tech said his computer was locked and had to be reinstalled, but he didn't have a W10 DVD  . While the guy made a cuppa I removed the password. The guy was gobsmacked at how easy I bypassed it  Thus not needing a reinstall.

1430713 2017-01-16 07:57:00 I have recently shifted from Open/Libre office to Free office by Softmaker. For details see www.freeoffice.com
It is considerably faster to load and offers better compatibility with MS office than Open/Libre. The con is that it is not as fully featured, but is more than adequate for small business or home office use.

1430714 2017-01-16 20:34:00 As an aside, it is impressive how many free and capable alternatives there are to MS Office. Huge numbers of people can save themselves money by using them.

However, I suspect that a lot of people get upsold MS Office as part of a new computer deal. The cost of ignorance!

1430715 2017-01-16 21:12:00 At last, downloaded WPS this morning. Installed and works fine - personally, I prefer WPS than Libre. bk T (215)

Chinese software, and a company that received funding from the Chinese govt
