1430175 2016-12-28 11:17:00 Thanks for the salutation, and the same to you. We (the collective) should always accept salutations and warm greetings from all and any. Thank-you, again.... and reciprocal salutations right back at ya.

The wife's gone on her trip - saw her off about an hour ago - into the great darkness that heavy snow falling and pre-sunrise always affords. The taillights twinkled out early on, just a few yards down our lane here in Montana. Meteorological Chart Here (sunrise-sunset.org)

It has snowed almost all of the night and there's considerable depth to the blanket that I can see outside on our swamp cooler in the rear window of the dining room - sadly awaiting it's cue to cool the house again next summer, when and if it appears ever again. Summer, that is.

The dog is wandering about - wondering and wandering as it were. The cat's just door-to-door pacing, expecting the food-giver to come back through either the front or back door at any moment.

I cooked my oatmeal - a little too much for just one serving, so the dog will get a nice warm treat for her apre-breakfast kibbled dining pleasure in a few moments.

Me? Right now listening to my Sam Cooke/Johnny Mathis Radio Station on Pandora and sipping from a huge double-bag flagon of Earl Grey tea - heavy sugar and milk.

It seems that there's an aire of foreboding-ness here in the US as they next elected president is about to become the 45th national leader and nobody knows what's up or what's down for that matter. I'm just floating here, awaiting the rest of the whole situation to whatever it deigns to do.

Flop - fail or flounder - it means naught really in the long term. Maybe the short term.

But, that said: it's like waiting for the next shoe to drop - ya know? Illegal aliens (not Martian-type aliens) and their 'anchor babies" are all atwitter not knowing if they should stay or should go - back to their country of origin that is.

Fully matriculated alien/resident students are also at risk of being deported if they have overstayed their scholastic visit and not returned to home turf with their newfound degrees in whatever sciences and human endeavors they have sought to extract from US tertiary bastions of illumination. More power to them.

I think I need more Vitamin D. (think about that a while)

That would help I guess - as I'm awaiting a date for both my knees to be replaced and then some spinal surgery to release the squeeze that my crushed L4 & L5 have put on my sciatic nerves.

So-o-o - I'm a little nervous I guess - can youse tell?

I'm also gonna change to my Pandora Eagles Radio Station now. That'll help a bit I guess.

I see too that King Don has been coaxing or hailing the top tech founders and top company CEO's to his round-table to keep major business facilities in USA - I guess to employ Americans - maybe the inherent or legal citizens or what ever defines an American today. Glad I kept my US Petersen's Vice Grip and Dayton Lock Grips - survived decades of abuse, maybe not readily available now, or if still made in US. i think they moved away to offshore.

As for travelling from Montana to Idaho - won't it be easier and faster by train or plane...

1430176 2016-12-28 17:25:00 Train? No-o-o-o .

Trains here would take you to Whitefish, and then a 3 hour drive to here . You might have to take the train thru Seattle though and that would be nice to see too .

Vegas is a once in a lifetime perverse pleasure if you didn't lose all your money there on the first place . . . . . . .

If I was a foreigner --- or make me a vacation-itinerary-advisor-to-tourists ----- I'd implore them to stay away from the typical tourist traps and go straight to the heartland of the US .

Arrive at LAX airport .
See LA . for about 20 minutes on the way out of LA .
Drive thru Palm Springs but keep the door closed and the air conditioning INSIDE the car . It'll be 120F there most any day .
See Lost Wages . Don't touch anything - you don't know where it's been .
See The Grand Canyon on the way to Montana .

If you fly, there's a great airport in Missoula, 58 miles from here, and approx $50 . 00 airfare one-way . Super cheap . . . . from Flagstaff Arizona (the Grand Canyon is very near to Flagstaff) . Airfare would be about 30% cheaper from north Arizona to Missoula, MT .

AGAIN I SAY: TRAINS????

No . I laugh at that prospect .

Trains cost anywhere from 4 to 20 times more than aircraft and they don't really go to where you want unless it's by the great circle route . All the above applies to you here . . . . although I MAY have understated the cost by a factor of 2:1 . . . . . . . . . or 16:1 . Then there's the inconvenience .

Trains will eat up most of your vacation time and money . Busses are worse or better if you want slice-of-life experiences with the dregs of US society .

More info to come . . . I'm in doctors office right now .

1430177 2016-12-29 05:31:00 Hmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . . . . .

Just saw the weather-guessers report for next week --- Jan 1st on -- and Monday is prognosticated to be -27F, rising to -13F by the hottest part of the day at 14:00 .

I hope they're right 'cause I only have antifreeze protection to -35F on all my vehicles including my Case VAC tractor .
