| 1431608 | 2017-02-06 02:47:00 | I've been unable to send emails for the last 4 days using Thunderbird and xtra. (I can receive emails OK.) The error message is... "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 You are not authorized to send as xxxxx@xtra.co.nz" I read on the Spark website.. " Investigations have shown that this is affecting customers on older email clients and upgrading to a more secure modern client resolves the issues. If you are experiencing these issues and are on an older email client we recommend upgrading to a more secure modern client." I like Thunderbird. Can anyone suggest a good 'modern' replacement? Thanks Thunderbird 45.6.0 W10 Home |

| 1431610 | 2017-02-06 03:32:00 | Its not Thunderbird. In Fact Thunderbird is one older program that does work on Spark. Spent most of the early part of last week installing TB on Customers XP computers, since OE and older versions of Outlook stopped working. The problem is SPARK. Since Wednesday Last week they have had a problem with some people not being able to receive email, After ringing (because I had at least a dozen customers all call complaining) they said they knew about it and the problem IS at their end, and at the time had it posted on their site. Saturday they claimed to have sorted it ( YEAH RIGHT) . They suggest you use Web Mail until they had it sorted. Several We had to reset the passwords as the originals that were correct suddenly didn't work. |

Can you log into web mail ( just to check the email password is working) Note: just tried on a customers PC in the workshop. It took 2 goes and several minutes before the user namae / Password was accepted. It had been changed as the original didn't work last week, even on web mail. |

Yes, I can log into web mail and I could send emails without the error message appearing. Still waiting for confirmation that they were received. (One of those emails was sent to me.) |

(One of those emails was sent to me.) The only way you'll see if the mails you sent to yourself arrived is to go into web mail and look there. Spark say people need to upgrade their email clients. ---- They need to fix the problem. Three people I went to see, two have Outlook 2016 (so they cant get any newer) and the other Outlook 2013 & Thunderbird on the same PC, and they are having the exact same problem. |
