1431426 2017-01-31 03:53:00 Not me, of course, but my cellphone to my laptop, how does this affect things, power and internet?? eg images on my 15" laptop are much bigger than on my cell. Also if I am in an area of very weak coverage, like just now, part way to Glenorchy, outside of Queenstown, then everything is more demanding of my resources?? .... images refuse to upload, etc. Misty (368)
1431427 2017-01-31 04:19:00 It just means your laptop is using up your mobile data. It'll go however fast the cellular network is in that area, chew through your data real quick, and flatten the phone battery a bit faster than normal.
I'd avoid any kind of streaming and leave the uploads for when you are back on home broadband personally unless your cell phone comes with a large data plan. I used to use mine for a couple hours of gaming a month and to check my E-mail and maybe a couple web pages - that tended to blow out the 500mb data on my $19 prepay in one session most times.

1431428 2017-01-31 04:27:00 When you are tethered to your phone, the phone is acting like a Modem to the internet.

Charges will apply, so depending on what you are doing, your Provider / plan conditions, data limits etc, be very careful other wise you'll get hit with a HUGE mobile bill,

Anything like pictures, movies etc will eat through it like water going down the drain.

If there is poor reception in an area, then of course that will also effect the type of connection, speeds you may get.
