1431358 2017-01-30 01:58:00 Hi All.

1431359 2017-01-30 02:59:00 No - OCR will not be very successful at all with handwriting... bevy121 (117)
1431360 2017-01-30 03:20:00 I just scan whatever with MP Navigator. A separate install for the Canon printer here. Scans anything wireless. Text or handwriting

Had to use it once, just printed what someone sent to me in an email, signed it then re-scanned it with my signature then re-emailed it

My printer is WF 3640 Epson. Is there something similar for this? Thanks. PJ

1431362 2017-01-30 08:58:00 Looks like there is an OCR component on the site. I have no idea what it does tho (tech.epson.co.nz)

Never had an Epson

1431363 2017-01-30 09:50:00 Optical Character Recognition - to read an image with text and convert it to an actual text file.

Much different than just scanning something to sign and send.

Popa John would need to clarify what it is that he actually wants to do

If he wants to convert a handwritten document in an image format to text file, then as I said, OCR will have a lot of misread characters (depending on how clear/unclear the individual characters of the handwriting in the document image are)

1431364 2017-01-30 09:53:00 that depends on how good the program is that you use... Speedy Gonzales (78)

The idea is to scan hand written or printed from A4 lined paper as text. I realise that , up to now, the idea has a long way to go before coming anywhere near perfect. Same as speech to text. The number of corrections may be too many to justify the bother, & just type the material into a Word Doc. Your Para 3 says it all. PJ

1431367 2017-01-31 09:58:00 Printed text image A4's will be read to a text file surprisingly well - it's the handwritten ones they tend to fumble on.
But as I said, that depends on how much depth there is to the "proper grown up joined together handwriting" the handwritten material actually is! lol

Best way is always to try it on a couple and see! :)
