1430979 2017-01-25 01:19:00 Hi and welcome to PressF1.

Speedy Gonzales is the man for this exercise and does a remarkable job at it.

There seems to be a lot of Google Chrome entries ?.

I still have Xp Sp3 on this desktop and it's a great workhorse toooo, but it still gets a tidy up from Speedy

lurking.

1430980 2017-01-25 01:31:00 These dont have to be instartup. If ccleaner is installed delete them in startup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [GrooveMonitor] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe"

I would uninstall Spybot. There are better programs around now

Make sure Java is up to date. Uninstall ALL versions of Java if it's not the latest version

Update Firefox if XP supports version 50.x Update Itunes, if XP supports version 12.x

Make sure flash is up to date if XP supports version 24.x

1430981 2017-01-25 10:24:00 Thank you Lurking.

I agree there does seem to be lots of google chrome entries.
Have noticed when Im having trouble and run task manager even if I only have 1 window open there are a few chrome's running.

Im hoping when my OH takes his stuff off here it will run better, but he's not in any rush to take it off just yet.

1430984 2017-01-25 20:14:00 Thank you Lurking.

I agree there does seem to be lots of google chrome entries.
Have noticed when Im having trouble and run task manager even if I only have 1 window open there are a few chrome's running.

Im hoping when my OH takes his stuff off here it will run better, but he's not in any rush to take it off just yet.

Yes I thought Speedy would have explained the reason for the repitition.

OHs' are always trouble either way, rofl, this pc of wife's (can I say that), a W10 desktop, downloaded an Adobe Acrobat update on the 22 Jan and it brought the pc to a stanstill.

The only last resort was swithching off at the wall and after 2 such jolts it's seems to have come right.

Probably get a rip, when Speedy and Wai see this post !!.

Jen this is fine. I know you all must be busy with real time jobs as well as running this site.

Any help no matter how long it takes I am very grateful for.

Bryan

This was the family computer back in the day.
Children bought him a new laptop for Christmas because he was always cursing at this 1!!!

He moved some stuff across, but all his documents and photos are still on it.
Asked if I could delete them and back came a very angry " I will do it when I'm ready"

So this will continue to run slow and sluggish until it gets more free space I guess.
