1430968 2017-01-23 04:02:00 Have had 2 totally different computers this week with this issue, and haven't been able to find a resolution . In both cases doing a system restore has not been an option .

On one of the computers we have tried manually copying the system/sam etc reg files but the issue is still persistent .

Video here ( . youtube . com/watch?v=R5xlUL-lIzQ" target="_blank">www . youtube . com) .

Quite an odd one .

1430969 2017-01-23 04:18:00 Haven't seen that exact problem, but have had it where the keyboard wont work properly on start - one fix was to unplug the KB. Start the computer, at the lock screen, plug the KB back in, wait a few minutes for the drivers to reload.

Failing that -- Tried safe Mode / Repair options ??

You can force the Computer into recovery by starting, just as windows starts to load Press and hold down the power button causing a Crash, do this twice, on the third time it will come up Please wait - Attempting repairs - ( and fail) then give recovery options -- Does the KB work during this time ?

Several causes can be Bad Graphic Drivers (AMD are the worst) ;)
Network Drivers
General corruption or some update.

1430970 2017-01-23 05:23:00 Been doing some reading and it appears something very similar can happen if the logon gets corrupted .

From MS: "This problem occurs because of a change in the behavior of WinLogon and LogonUI . This change introduces the potential for the deadlock"

If you can get into safe mode, or recovery mode as above you may be able to run system restore to when all was well .

1430971 2017-01-23 06:20:00 I had a similar thing yesterday. I was en-devouring to triple boot w10, w7 & Linux. I eventually made a hash of it and one of the symptoms was the keyboard not allowing me to enter the password. In the end I restored the MBR and all was well, except that I had to re-activate W7. BTW, eventually found that the Fast Boot in W10 was over-riding the EZBCD menu. mzee (3324)
1430972 2017-01-23 21:44:00 Thanks guys - Wainui, none of the available system restore points would work. Safe mode booted to a black screen with a cursor, no further. Doesn't appear to be a graphics driver issue, although I could probably deliberately break the driver to double check that.

Keyboard is fine the whole time and have tried USB and PS/2.

Looks like manually copying the system restore files then booting straight into safe mode with cmd prompt may actually do something so will follow that up.

1430973 2017-01-24 04:09:00 Sounds a bit like the users Profiles have gotten broken somehow.

"May" have to create / show the hidden Admin account to access the restore.
