1430892 2017-01-20 21:01:00 I have a ASUS desktop computer which is 2 ½ years old. About every 2 to 6 months it won’t start up, tries too but won’t .It has been to the technician several times. It has had 2 new switches, a new mother board a CPU unit 2 power packs and still is playing up. The only way I can keep it going is by sleeping it and not turning it off. Most of the work has been done under warranty. Any suggestions on what the problem might be. I understand the programs on a computer as I taught at seniornet, but not the electrical side of the computer. kinloch (14004)
1430893 2017-01-20 21:38:00 I'd say if they haven't been able to fix it after all of those repairs take it back to where you bought it and request a refund under the consumer guarantees act.
I think you've given them enough chances to repair it already.

1430894 2017-01-20 22:00:00 With all the problems occurring there must be a lot to see in Event Viewer, very evident your man has missed something :badpc:

You are quite lucky as there is a man in Taupo on here that could put his finger on the problem quick smart

1430895 2017-01-20 22:16:00 If youre in Taupo, send me a PM with your address. If it's not too far from me, I could check it out

Or if its going at the mo, I could check it out with teamviewer. As long it doesnt crash on you while I'm in it !

1430896 2017-01-20 22:27:00 Another thing if the motherboard and CPU were replaced, were both identical to the old motherboard and CPU??

If they're not the same, and if noone did a clean install of windows, you may have probs

Sounds like the "tech" took wild guesses.

1430898 2017-01-21 00:50:00 Would need to understand this "tries to".

How far into the startup is it getting?

Without seeing it, wild guesses is all I could suggest.

A problem that happens after a while like this is an under powered PSU (power pack). They degrade over time and may not be reaching the peak power needed to run your computer. I would also check your house power, huge variations in voltage can damage equipment, but your computer wouldn't be the only thing to suffer. So anything else die that you thought nothing of before?

Hopefully someone can sort your problem out.
