| 1430717 | 2017-01-15 22:34:00 | I upgrade this old HP machine quite a while ago to Win10 pro from Win7 Pro. Everything seems to be working OK until ... this morning when I 'updated' it --- haven't used this PC for a while, it's for spare. After the update, I noticed that speaker icon (notification) is with a big red X. The built-in speaker was working OK before but now, it doesn't work anymore. The sound works fine when I plugged in an external speaker. Any remedy? I know, it's a very old ex-leased PC. |

| 1430720 | 2017-02-03 07:06:00 | You might try reinstalling the SoundMax audio package - this is necessary to provide audio on the HP 7xxxx internal speaker. google for HP software pack SP45615 While the software doesn't officially support Windows 7 and up, it does work right through Win 10. Of course Win10 upgrades are fairly aggressive and often overwrite things.... You may find you have to turn off "enhancements" in the audio output section. | wuppo (41) | ||
| 1430721 | 2017-02-03 09:33:00 | It was working fine when I first installed Win10; it's only after I installed those 'silly' Win10 updates that which broke it. Anyway, I can live with it (it's an old PC, anyway), I can always connect a pair of external speakers if I want to play some music. No big deal. | bk T (215) | ||
| 1430722 | 2017-02-03 09:40:00 | Go to device manager dbl click on the audio / driver tab / roll back driver Then get this run it then hide the audio drivers. Then they wont try and install again (support.microsoft.com) |
