707964 2008-09-26 04:19:00 I have just installed ESET SmartSecurity Home. Do I need any other security etc programs?. Pato (2463)
707965 2008-09-26 04:28:00 I'd say no-it already comes with a firewall, antivirus+antispyware.
A few more anti-spyware programs such as Spybot and spyware teminator(my fav) wouldn't hurt thought, cause I don't know if Nod32's spyware detection rates are good or not.

And maybe a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.

cheers

707966 2008-09-26 04:31:00 I'd still have some dedicated anti-malware software as well.

I'd suggest malwarebytes & spyware terminator for great freebies, and Spyware Doctor if you want a cheap, really good app with real-time protection.

Second that list - Spyware terminator has inbuilt real time protection as well.

Just be a bit Careful with Spyware Doctor - I just had a PC a week back that had the paid version - it was fine until it did an update - it clashed with nod32 Antivirus - stopped the internet and slow as a wet week, took twice as long to start, system lockups - untill I disabled Spyware Doc - ended up removing it.

Edited:I loaded Spyware doc on a workshop PC ( I use nod) and it did the same thing, it was fine up till then.

A while back someone posted here that Syamntec had brought out PC tools / Spyware Doc - so weather symantec are starting to put in their rubbish and its causing problems , I dont know.

BlamI have all those but wasn't sure if I should remove them (apart from CCleaner of course) so you have confirmed what I thought. Thanks.

I wasn't sure if I should run those as well as NOD32. Cheers.

707973 2008-09-26 07:16:00 Always have other anti-spyware.
And while NOD32 has a great antivirus reports are not so hot regarding its firewall. BUT, by default from what I have seen it installs in whatever its called mode - change it to INTERACTIVE mode, that way its going to ask you about outgoing programs as well, much more secure that way.
