478761 2006-08-15 21:42:00 We watch the news on Prime at 5:30 and then flick over to the 6:00 news on One. Recently however the news on prime has deteriorated tremendously.

I notice that on some of the second rate articles now there is a small advert in the top left hand corner saying the news came from a website (I think its this one www.skynews.co.nz)

It seems with the change in ownership from Channel 9 to Sky that tehy lost their primary news sources. It became a joke over the last few days, with headlining articles about a baboon that died on the operating table while getting a testosterone injection, and the otter being moved south. These were close to the top of the bullitin.

478762 2006-08-16 00:03:00 I started watching Prime news just recently and find it quite refreshing - they seem to put into half an hour's news what takes an hour for the other big two channels. Too much dribble and adverts on One and Three. Greg (193)
478763 2006-08-16 01:09:00 We also watch prime News although i haven't seen it for a couple of weeks,
and i have to say i agree with Greg, i liked that it was shorter with less "filler" items and that the presenter where there as presenters not personalities

478764 2006-08-16 01:50:00 I wrote Prime news off as a joke after the so called live coverage of nasa crashing the probe into the comet.

Most of the 30 mins was spent building up to the live impact event being streamed from nasa. The count down was under way, expected impact iminent.

Then the fools at Prime cut to a damn commercial. The commercial ends and Prime news cuts back to nasa in time to see cheering and back slapping from the technicians... having completely missed the impact event.

I wrote them off as morons and never went back.

478765 2006-08-16 01:51:00 I prefer the shorter 30 mins of news to the 60 mins that TVNZ and Canwest have. Too much time to load up with pointless crap. But the 5.30 time slot on Prime is pointless as most folks aren't home to watch it.. paulw (1826)
478766 2006-08-16 02:48:00 the 5.30 time slot on Prime is pointless as most folks aren't home to watch it..I bet they're monitoring the success/failure of that decision closely.

But I guess it has a slight advantage if people like watching programmes other than news at 6pm

478767 2006-08-16 06:14:00 They ALL have a few minutes of actual news then ages of this stuff called sport while I go away and do PressF1 or something and then come back for the few minutes of weather. pctek (84)
