478250 2006-08-13 11:54:00 hey y'all .
Im a HUGE fan of emulation - Sega, Nintendo, Atari . . .
When I was like six, I owned my first PC

It was beautiful . . . An Amiga / Commodore thingee .

This is where my problem begins,
does anyone know ehere I can find information concerning What type of Amiga PC it was, as far as I know, Amiga and Commodore somehow merged together and released several PC's in the meantime which were a meld of the two companies?

I think this PC was around the 1985 - 1994 era and used floppy disks to boot programmes directly off the Disk, no OS as far as I can remember .

It had great games such as L . E . D Storm and Dogs of War being the two distinct ones . . . Separate keyboard and mouse . Umm, 8 bit I think, considering the graphics . . . I dunno bout that .

I loved that PC, it was my "One true friend"

Then sometime in 1999 . . . It broke :stare: :horrified

And I never saw it again . . . It was while playing Barbarian . . . :dogeye:

Please reunite a 16 yr old nerd with his Amiga!
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

478254 2006-08-13 12:33:00 nice... But I'd rather have an emulator as it's less stuff cluttering my shoebox of a room.

I'll bookmark that and have another look tomorrow
good night

Well I cannot do that but it brought back happy memories. In 1988 I bought our first computer - a Commodore PC5 $3014 wow!

We nearly bought an Amiga slightly dearer. But I wanted an MSDOS compatible for my work.
The story as I remember it was that Commodore wanting factory space had bought out another computer manufacturer and when they inspected the research facilities found this amazing ahead of its time computer called the Amiga - but not in production. Commodore just had to put it into production even though it competed directly with their own product. It used the same chip as the then Apple. But could not only use its own software would also run the Apple software - faster and in glorious colour whereas the Apple was still mono. It was considerably cheaper than the Apple. It would also run MSDOS programs with the aid of an emulator. But a bit slower of course.

I watched demonstrations of its multi tasking abilites years before MSDOS even knew what the term meant.
Why it didn't sell better is a mystery but I do believe many TV stations used them for their weather maps because of the superior graphics ability.
I did hear that they were still available to special order - true?
