Now having Tiger Woods doing chipping practice would be a different thing as I like to play some golf. Talking of that. Tiger Woods was in New Zealand playing at Paraparaumu some years ago as I remember it. He got "appearance money" just to turn up. I think the ratepayers got done. What is it with sport these days? Mostly it appears professional and if the governing body of whichever sport can afford to pay fairly big money for players then they should pay for a stadium if that is where they want to hold an event. Now I agree that if you have a venue whether this is whatever sport then you will attract the good players and hopefully this will get money into your district. As far as I am concerned you could turn Eden Park into a car park. I'm not sure why you would because most of Auckland IS a carpark. I do not want to pay for your roads and I don't want to even pay Environment Waikato the levy for cleaning up Lake Taupo. Yep. I don't go there either. |

If you look at the typical user that each attracts they are completely different. It would be fair to expect that most PF1 users could care less about Eden Park, but if you suggest that the money be used to provide better broadband to the country, im sure it would be very popular. At the end of the day the number of New Zealanders who enjoy rugby and want the World Cup hosted here is far greater than the number who want quality country wide broadband. People can rant on about their own personal preference, but as always the majority rules. I cant wait for someone in this forum to post back claiming that the majority dont enjoy rugby. |

Nope wrong - definitely interested in Rugby here. Just no need to stick my hand up in this forum. SOCCER is what I have called it for as long as I remember and SOCCER it will be until I die. I know absolutely no-one that prefers SOCCER over rugby so in my world rugby rules. I say spend the money, Rugby is an institution in NZ and no expense should be spared. I say scrap all subsidies for University student fees (they only waste it on alcohol and a causing public disturbance anyway) and channel that money to the building of more rugby stadiums. While they are at it, why not spend some money on SOCCER development in NZ - we all know they need it. |

The Knights have developed their game quite well and have placed consistantly in the Australian league. The All Whites also have found their place within the world of football/soccer and have become very consistant as well. | Myth (110) | ||

As for the All Whites (www.fifa.com), lets just say you have to scroll a loooong way down to find them. |
