707924 2008-09-26 04:11:00 It's an awkward bios. Compaq nc8230 notebook
I couldn't see anywhere where the bios identifies the drives.
I was only able to tell which boot priority devices.

707925 2008-09-26 04:15:00 OK...maybe it has some kind of HDD protection, some of those HP business laptops did. Put the old HDD in, and have a look in the BIOS for any kind of HDD protection settings/HDD lock. I can't remember exactly what they call it off the top of my head. wratterus (105)
707926 2008-09-26 04:26:00 I've disabled drive lock.

Put the new hdd in, rechecked that the drive lock was off & no change - still no boot

707927 2008-09-26 04:40:00 OK. I'd try re-cloning the drive with drive lock turned off. wratterus (105)
707928 2008-09-26 04:43:00 Thank you to you both for your input.
I will try the re-cloning this weekend.
Time to knock off!

Have a great weekend.
