479470 2006-08-20 05:38:00 I did end up in hospital for nearly a year from a rugby injury, but I still regard it as the finest team sport in the world  Greg (193)
479471 2006-08-20 05:43:00 So you want me to pay to upgrade a thug stadium in Auckland? I'm already paying for one in Christchurch. :(

The "Government" hasn't got money to subsidise the RFU. It uses our money. The "Council" doesn't have money to subsidize the RFU. It uses the ratepayers' money.

Let those who profit from Rugby games (and yacht races) pay for the facilities they want. Only $320 millions? That sort of thing soon starts to add up to real amounts of money.New Zealand as a whole loves rugby. New Zealand wants to host the World Cup. The stadium has to be upgraded for us to do that. So New Zealand has to pay for it. Simple.

What rot - NZ did not decide to host a rugby world cup the NZRFU did. The stadium is Auckland's problem, if Auckland wants to be the centre of the cup action, simple Auckland should pay for it (and the NZRFU, a professional organisation that operates on money, ergo pay up).

I know of no other stadium in NZ that has had tax money input so why should Auckland get it. Oh I know - Auckland is the centre of the universe so the universe should pay. Please jaffas give the rest of the country a break and start paying for your own infrastructure and stop whining.

Before any one raises the tax input into the proposed Otago stadium - I should point out that the Uni has to have facilities and it made sense to combine resources so that everyone gets a good deal. Has any Auckland promotion for facilities proposed such an accomodation - no I think not.

Through years of inaction and squabbling amongst local bodies in the Auckland area the infrastructure has suffered now the time comes to pay and paying WE are through petrol taxes etc and deferred development in the rest of the country's infrastructure

You're the one complaining that the Govt won't pay for the stadium.

You build a bridge.

Same.I don't like rugby.I find it unebearable to watch rugby.Tackling the person until they break a part of their body.I don't call this sport at all.I feel it as violence.

I enjoy watching soccer more. There's skills involve with the ball and you can watch and relax.

All I see everytime in rugby is that you hold a rugby ball and get ram to death while trying to score a goal.

I wouldn't risk my life being tackled over just to score a goal.

During my high school year we had tackle rugby as one of the activity and oh man my friend had a broken arm.

Luckily he didn't break his neck

NZ is good at this sport but some people like me wouldn't like to spend money on redeveloping the eden park because of rugby.

I just don't like rugby... :xmouth:
i think you would have seen more injurys in this years football world cup then in the 2003 rugby WC. :D
