478322 2006-08-14 22:30:00 I recall having a BBC that ran off floppy disks and had exciting games such as Grannys Garden and Tetris.

First decent computer was a 486 MMX with 16MB ram and a 500MB hard drive running Xtree gold and Windows 3.1, which we then upgraded to the *AMAZING* Windows 95.

Remember upgrading that box to a Pentium 133 with a 2GB hard drive and 32MB ram. :yuck:

478323 2006-08-14 22:36:00 I must be a late starter! 8088 XT @ 4.77 MHzMy first PC which I actually owned, not just used, was a Pentium 3 933 MHz

Paid an horrific amount of $$ for it too when you consider what sort of computer that money would get you now :xmouth:

Built the next one myself. :p

478324 2006-08-14 23:37:00 Amiga 500 without the extra RAM.

Gave it away in the end to a friend whose Amiga 500 died.
I remember the days of viruses on floppy disks and people with a whole drawer of disks with half corrupt... Joysticks broken due to tow player games of Speedball 2 .. ah the memories. :nerd:

478325 2006-08-15 02:51:00 Amiga 500, followed by an IBM Aptiva (K6-2). Spent many hours at school or friends houses playing with Acorns and Apples. Pete O'Neil (6584)

Earliest computers I used were 1st a Sinclair, then a Commodore 64, then a BBC something. And yeah those were the days, especially playing Defender! Went through about 6 Enter keys (the firing button) in as many months!

478327 2006-08-15 04:03:00 My first coding was on Punchcards in my High School computing class in 1977

For Portable computing, I had in 1981 a TRS-80 PC-1 (www.old-computers.com). I then upgraded that to a PB-1000 (www.old-computers.com) which still works today. My first PC portable was a Zenith XT Laptop (www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org). I now use a TC1000 Tablet (en.wikipedia.org) for portable computing, with a T3G card and Wifi.

On my desk in 1984, I started with ZX Spectrum+ (www.old-computers.com) then I got Amstrad CPC 664 (www.old-computers.com). I then moved into the PC world with a PC Direct 560si (Pentium 133), which I upgraded 3 years later to a K2-300. I still have a decent TL Systems PC, Athlon XP 1800, DVD/RW and 2x80 GB HDD with a 6600 GT and 19" LCD which more than meets my needs.

478330 2006-08-15 05:42:00 The first PC I was the only one to use (but not owned) was a P1 133MHz, first PC that I owned is this beast I am running now... built it all myself :D The_End_Of_Reality (334)
478331 2006-08-15 06:00:00 My first was a Dick Smith VZ200 (yes this was a computer), then onto a Commodore 16 , then Commodore 64, Amiga 500, and finally onto my PC life with a 386 DX40 which I found incredibly painful after owning an Amiga as posted by one or two others. Battleneter (60)
