709050 2008-10-01 08:27:00 Hi,

a strange sort of problem/challenge

a month ago I changed my IP from Ihug to xnet (world xchange) and since then I've not been able to watch a decent streaming video - they say they've checked the line and the speeds are ok - but for the 3 yrs i've been on broadband this is the first time I've had dail up speeds in terms of watching streaming video

i use the netscape browser - hate IE - then i switched to firefox and the problems gotten worse so back to netscape -

I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash and things went perfect on IE, semi ok on netscape and terrible on firefox - now late in the evening even horrible IE has reduced itself to dial up speeds for streaming - I even tried oprea briefly but the same ****dial up speed effect happned there to - whats the problem .....?

is it something to do with my computer, software, or even the router - which i now nothing much about by the way - or is it the crappy lines, xnet, government, a world conspiracy or is this just the way NZzzzz expensive slow broadband is going on a corroding copper line ?

some one else I know on xnet also experiences this as well and he puts it down to the corroding copper lines? but its a first for me

is any one else experiencing or experienced this problem its so frustrating ?

will be grateful for any advice, suggestions or just general help anyone can offer :dogeye:

709051 2008-10-01 17:06:00 Well there has been a lot of discussion on here about Xnets speeds so maybe that's the problem gary67 (56)
709052 2008-10-01 17:58:00 I have been with xnet for 18 mths and have had great service until about 2 mths ago, and I am now unable to stream video any longer. The speeds now are sometimes slower than dial-up. Time to bail out I think Tony S. (450)
709053 2008-10-01 19:32:00 Yep, crap speed on xnet international in the evenings. You just can't stream YT without a long buffering interval. Great during the day but not other times.

I want to jump ship but just don't know where to. I jumped to xnet because it was highly touted but then it turned to custard. A lot of P2P'ers joined up and they can HOG the bandwidth squeezing out the other users.

709055 2008-10-02 06:04:00 Don't laugh but we have no trouble at all with streaming media on Vodafone and that's with all 3 computers on the net at the same time gary67 (56)

Yep, ihug/VF has been fine lately. Getting good speeds at all hours of the day.
