708972 2008-10-01 00:34:00 hi, ive being running an 8600gt for a while now and i was wondering how much of a difference having two of them would be cos i just got a another 8600gt from my m8 so it saves me some money buying a whole new one, but its a differnt brand, does it matter wat the brand of the graphics card is or can they still sli because im pritty sure they have the same clock and memory speeds

Give it a go... as long as you have the bridge, and an sli mobo you should be OK.

As for fps, it really depends what games you're playing. It will probably improve quite a bit, but as it's still a slow card, it's not going to make it lightning fast. If you got it free you might as well give it a go.

708975 2008-10-01 23:57:00 A bridge is what connects the two cards, SLI motherboards need a specific bridge to connect the cards, because the PCI-E slots are always going to be different widths apart.

Crossfire gets around this using a cable to bridge the cards, but NVidia ones are solid. Look on the net, or on your manufacturers website to see if you can buy one seperately.

1
