708625 2008-09-29 07:48:00 Any cure for this? When I plug in a new Microsoft usb mouse I get this notice "USB Device Not Recognized", (took new mouse back & tried another one) get the same result in all 7 USB ports, thou other devices will work in all ports & when I look in device manager there is an entry "Unknown Device" Have tried uninstalling / installing Host drivers, installed Microsoft mouse drivers' tried all the fixes suggested in Google hits & still no joy.The funny thing is if I plug in my old Logitech mouse it works ok. Have uninstalled Logitech drivers & it runs on the XP drivers. Have reinstalled chipset drivers, no luck.
O/S XP home SP3

708626 2008-09-29 16:59:00 remove the unknown device from device manager, click once on it push the delete key click on ok
then plug in the mouse. It should re detect it and may come up with new device install wizard and you may have to load the supplied drivers, but if you do it would be most unusual.
Ive known that "unknown device to remember want it refers to and when its tried to be reinstalled just to default to it and think its done.

If that doesn't work, try a known working usb device in the ports you are plugging the mouse into. If that device is detected, suspect mouse, if not detected suspect faulty usb ports.

708629 2008-09-30 17:25:00 is this on a laptop if so check the device manger and see if the mouse element is disabled, or see if disabling the touch pad helps ( I hope you you know how to use the keyboard if you use this option if the mouse dont work then) beama (111)
