708571 2008-09-29 04:02:00 Hi Guys,

was on the look out for a new desktop, and came across this:

Specs:

CPU: AMD X2 4600+ 2.4Ghz Dual core
RAM: 4GB DDR2-800 High performance DDR ram
Hard drive: Seagate 250GB SATA II HDD
Motherboard: Abit AM2+ (up to 8GB of RAM)
DVD: 20X Dual Layer DVD writer
LAN: Gigabit LAN
Sound: Soundmax high definition audio
Case: Black case with 370W PSU
OS - Windows XP Pro

He wanted $510 for the above. seems reasonable to me....any advice??

Thanks

708572 2008-09-29 04:18:00 I'd be a bit skeptical about the motherboard - not a very good brand.

What brand is the PSU and is the Windows XP license legit?

370W for the PSU might not be enough...

708573 2008-09-29 05:34:00 Hi,

Unsure of the PSU brand.

thanks for tip on mboard.

I heard good things about that processor though....?

So, in your opinion, maybe a lil overpriced?

708576 2008-09-29 07:10:00 Mines pretty similar.

Except mines an ASUS mobo, 4 GB, 5000+ CPU, 250 GB Sata II hdd, and 460W PSU

for now, yes....I hardly do much gaming at the mo, so figure I will upgrade graphics when needed...no point right now....I can save a wee bit too!

708580 2008-09-29 07:37:00 do you need the os or do already have a copy? quickly running whats there through pricespy.co.nz it works out cheaper to build it new (im assumin this is secondhand) plus gives you room (also assuming your budget is about 500?) to get a bigger psu which you will need if you ever add a graphics card hueybot3000 (3646)
