| 708530 | 2008-09-29 03:50:00 | hi. i am trying to setup an email server on a client / server model. i have one PC with win server 2003 and other with XP. they both talk to each other using a cross over network. i have setup dns on server and made sure client & server both have the same domain name. i have also made a user in Active directory so the client machine can do a domain login. Now i want to know which client is the easiest to setup mail server (other than exchange). so my server pc can act as mail server. there is no internet involved in this model. thanks.. |

I could be wrong... but I'm pretty sure you need some sort of mail serving application which centrally houses a mailbox which clients login to and then download the emails to a client mail application. Cheers, yes, i want to know which application is the easiest to configure in this situation?. i just want client to be able to send and recieve emails from server and server to be able to send and recieve emails from client. thats all. nothing fancy. |

| 708533 | 2008-09-29 06:03:00 | I don't think you're going to get a Windows anywhere... again I could be wrong. Before easy comes cost... especially with windows based server applications. It isn't as easy as you might think. If you're doing this for a test environment or something then I suggest you get a trial version of Exchange or something.... ot alternative, turn to a Linux based server... you won't have any problems finding open source email server applications...
