I got caught with a MAD magazine in German class and got punished by having to translate the whole thing into German...remember this was a PRIMARY class...and I had very little verb conjugation as of yet.... Alfred E. Neuman's phrase "What? Me Worry?" was the toughest part. I had no idea of idioms yet, and made that one up all by myself. "Warum soll Ich mir sörgen machen" is kinda literally: "Why should I, to myself, make sad?" Pitiful, nicht war? |

On one hand people downloading porn and running porn sites are rounded up and shipped off to jail, as "threats to society" . Public outrage over the access to porn on the internet for kids causes restictions and filtering systems and moral panic Socially we are quick to label people as perverts, to sexualise anything that may appear unusual, such as men watching kids in parks . Our society is hyper sexualized, primarily through American television I suspect, and the innocence and community of past decades is lost under suspicion and fear . If a man looks to long at a woman he is are labeled a pervert, despite any other motives . male teachers live in fear of being accused of such . So into this situation come "erotica week", which is nothing less than a public platform to advertise porn . Not only that, but to have a parade featuring porn workers, showing off their 'assetts' . Come on . . . . talk about double standards, so now porn and accepted and promoted, for thats what THIS parade aimed to do . So now kids, watching the boobs on bikes can watch the smae boobs on TV?, on the Internet? . The people behind this parade are into that trade, maybe we can have a kids section in the porn shops, that dominate our inner cities and fund an dpromote this parade . How do you boil a frog? Put it into cold water and slowly turn up the heat and it dies before it can jump out . An urban myth maybe but it shows that if you just trickle in something nasty over along period of time you can change a society . All the posters above who thought I was being "moralistic" are mising the point, I don't like a society where the emphasis on sex and porn is so blatent, I don't want to live in a country where you go to the central city (such as chch) and the biggest shops are sex shops . If you don't mind either you are being desensitized and don't realise it, or your vision of society is totally different to mine . Just don't come running to me when in future decades, you wake up and wonder what happened to our nice safe clean societies . Why there is so much more sexualization of children and focus on sex crimes in the news, why you can't walk alone at night in the cities, why teenage preganncies are increasing . You are building the society you have to live in in the future, thoughtless brick by thoughtless brick . |
