I've never had an Abit, though I wouldn't buy it after what I've heard from people about their experiences with its products. For a cheapo however I'd probably buy it, if I was too lazy to build a system myself. |

| 708582 | 2008-09-29 07:55:00 | do you need the os or do already have a copy? quickly running whats there through pricespy.co.nz it works out cheaper to build it new (im assumin this is secondhand) plus gives you room (also assuming your budget is about 500?) to get a bigger psu which you will need if you ever add a graphics card Hi, No, this is a new build (not by me though). Im not really big on PC gaming....prefer PS3 or Wii......the OS comes preinstalled with COE etc etc. I just looked at some reviews online of the mboard, and seems to get decent reviews? However, alot more people on here, know alot more than me on computer stuff....and the general concensus, seems like its not worth it? By the way, im ugrading from an oldish Acer SA80 desktop....2.8Ghz AMD, 1.5GB Ram, 80 Gb HDD cheers |

| 708583 | 2008-09-29 07:57:00 | So, in your opinion, maybe a lil overpriced? Question should be How legal is it - Meaning the OS mainly ?? Do the maths - going by pricespy - which is a joke as half of the lowest prices dont actually exist when you inquire. OS - XP Pro 64bit ( would be needed to see above 3gb of RAM) $253.00 CPU -- 70 HD --72 Motherboard ---115 Optical --45 Budget / Cheap Case with PSU prob around $100 ( no brand mentioned) that little lot = $655 Then add in the 4 Gb of DDR RAM - no brand mentioned but around $230 for 4 x 1Gb A-Data Total $885 kind of WAY off the $510 Go figure!! |

From what I've seen on trademe they won't be using 64bit XP on cheaper systems, most usually they use cheap generic brand components. Cheap 4GB is only around $111, and with that price I'm fully expecting some generic crap or ADATA or Kingston at best. |

| 708585 | 2008-09-29 08:06:00 | wainuitech - dont tell me pricespy is a joke, ive build countless pcs using prices on there without a glitch also when i say you can build that for less i thought smartly, why buy a 250gig hd? value for money 320 is same price, dont need 64bit windows cos if he was buildin himself it wouldnt be worth havin 4gig of ram cos i doubt hed ever use it. Im just looking at what he could get for the same sorta money and by building himself hed end up better off |

Shows how much the seller knows - the board actually takes DDR2, NOT DDR - which is $323.00 Look on pricespy (www.pricespy.co.nz) Just remember I run my own business and know the prices. Correction to the above post - the board was not mentioned before I posted - deduct $30.00. |

| 708587 | 2008-09-29 08:16:00 | wainuitech - dont tell me pricespy is a joke, ive build countless pcs using prices on there without a glitch Well you have been lucky - as mentioned I run my own business and I can tell you now I have had MANY people call and ask for a quote - I give one and they say prices are better on pricespy - go for it then they call back and say the prices on price spy are sometimes mis leading as they dont have stock, or they are old prices, or take ages to get the product if at all. Besides all that if you look on pricespy, I looked just like any one else does, and the LOWEST prices still add up way over $510. whats the point in having 4Gb of RAM if the OS will only see 3Gb - waste of money. HD pricing - agree, only about $20 difference. Old story - get what you pay for. - Buy cheap crap - generally you get what you deserve. |

| 708588 | 2008-09-29 08:19:00 | 2x2gig ddr2 800 $111 on pricespy as qazwsxokmijn said running your own business doesnt mean alot really...we can all go and buy computer parts |

| 708589 | 2008-09-29 08:23:00 | i use stores local to me and they seem to compete a bit on pricespy, maybe i am just lucky. with the ram my point was just get 2gig cos you wont really need 4 with that system. I agree - you get what you pay for, all we're tryin to do here is get the guy the best for his money | hueybot3000 (3646) | ||

Regarding the RAM, the seller doesn't indicate he is using FB-DIMM DDR2s, but "high performance" DDR2, which is another phrase for "cheap stuff that sells because I say it has high performance" that cheap item sellers use. :p |
